My Recommendations
In trying to find my way with Christ, I’ve explored many resources, some helpful, others not so much. This page is where I share all the things that have truly made a difference in my journey. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your faith, navigate life after leaving a false spiritual movement, or simply want to grow in your understanding of God’s Word, these recommendations are things I personally use. I only share resources I genuinely believe in, ones that have encouraged, equipped, and strengthened my walk with Christ. I pray they do the same for you!

NLT Life Application Study Bible (Tyndale)
This was my first Bible. The NLT translation is the easiest to understand when you first start your journey with Christ. This Bible has many features, including introductions to each book, timelines, charts, maps, and commentary notes to help you understand the text further and how to apply it to your life. As these pages are extremely thin, if you want to highlight text, it would be advisable to use either crayons, coloured pencils, or the Light Sand TomBow pen below.

ESV Interleaved Journaling Bible (Crossway)
I adore this Bible! It has a blank page after every page of scripture, and this allows you to make notes about the things you have read, and some people use it for Bible art! I keep all my thoughts, questions, and truths about the scripture, and I will only add information to the Bible pages once I have a full understanding and comprehension of what I’m reading, but you must do whatever works for you.

The Student Bible Dictionary
This Student Bible Dictionary is great! It’s small enough to carry around with you when you’re studying away from your desk. It is much smaller than the Tyndale Bible Dictionary, but do not underestimate how good this dictionary is. If you’re just starting out, this Bible dictionary is for you!

Highlighters
You don’t want to use normal highlighters in your Bible as the pages are really thin, and the highlighters can bleed through easily. The brands I know that have minimal bleed-through or shadowing are:

Zebra Mildliners (Neutral Vintage Colours)
Here in the UK, it’s easy for us to buy the bright colours of the Mildliner pens, but if you’re like me, you love neutral colours, then it can get a little more expensive buying these packs. I have seen some sites, including Amazon, charging upwards of £20 for a pack of 8 highlighters! Keep an eye out for deals on other websites, just don’t get fooled by some eBay listings, as they can add expensive postage, which then bumps up the price. Amazon seems to be the only consistently priced listing for these specific colours, and I have seen these go for approx. £15 when on sale.

Tombow ABT Dual Brush Pen 990 (Light Sand)
This particular pen from Tombow has zero bleed-through due to it being so light. The images online make the colour look really yellow but it has a warmer hue to it than what is depicted. I really like this pen as it highlights but the colour is not blaring in your face in a loud colour. I prefer more muted and neutral colours, if you do too, you will love this highlighter.
Be aware that you won’t be able to use all the colours Tombow have to offer as they are very pigmented and bleed all the way through your page. If you go for the Tombow pens, choose the lightest colours, remembering, online they do not always give a true representation of the colour. If you can view these pens in person and test them out, this would be more beneficial.

Pens
As well as choosing the right type of highlighters to use in your Bible, you must also consider the type of pen you write with otherwise, you could have severe bleed-through or transfer of ink onto other pages. Something you should also consider is how the pen will age and if the ink will fade. I have done lots of research online and also tested out many types of pens in my Bible, and the best one I found is the Sakura Pigma Micron Fineliner listed below.
Sakura Pigma Micron Fineliner Pens
These fineliner pens aren’t just great because they have a variety of nib sizes, allowing you to decide which size best suits you, but the ink is also waterproof, fade-resistant, and quick-drying. The ink is archival ink, meaning it will hold up over the years, so you don’t lose your valuable notes.
I have linked a 6 pack (all black ink), which is a pack of multiple nib sizes, so you can decide for yourself which size nib works best for you. Note, the smaller the nib, the more difficult it can be to write. I sit comfortably using the 02 and 03 sizes. Anything smaller for me, I find my writing feels a little scratchy.
Note: *The bigger the nib, the higher the bleed level. Always test pens at the back of your Bible before marking your pages.
You may need to shop around for different colours in this pen and in the size you decide suits you best.
